There is a new quarterly magazine available to cichlidophiles.
It is called Cichlid News. I saw the first issue last August at the
International Cichlid Conference in Orlando. It looked like a small
but colorful propaganda newsletter for a wholesaler in Miami, Florida.
Apparently it was very well received and the latest issue is much larger
and more attractive. It is an attractive magazine like Aquarium Fish
Magazine and all the photographs are in color. Most of the articles are
devoted to African cichlids and there is a "What's new in the hobby"
thing as well. The magazine is actually a big advertisement for Laif
DeMason's wholesale/import business. The backcover says "The fishes in
Cichlid News are available from the following distributors (special
orders may be required):" and then there is a list if pet stores around
the United States. I can live with that, so I'll keep subscribing.
